Karolinska Institutet (KI) is one of the world´s leading medical universities. Our mission is to contribute to the improvement of human health through research and education. Karolinska Institutet accounts for over 40 per cent of the medical academic research conducted in Sweden and offers the country´s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences.
Since 1901 the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has selected the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.
Karolinska Institutet was founded by King Karl XIII in 1810 as an "academy for the training of skilled army surgeons". Today, Karolinska Institutet is a modern medical university and one of the foremost in the world.
With our close relationship to the clinical milieu, a well established infrastructure and a stable financial situation, Karolinska Institutet has excellent prerequisites for sustaining high quality research and education.
The University of Gothenburg (GU) has approximately 38,000 students and 5,900 employees. It is one of the major universities in northern Europe. We are also one of the most popular universities in Sweden – the University of Gothenburg has the highest number of applicants to many programmes and courses. The University’s roughly 40 different Departments cover most scientific disciplines, making it one of Sweden’s broadest and most wide-ranging higher education institutions.
In an international perspective, the University of Gothenburg is unusually comprehensive, with cutting-edge research in a number of dynamic research areas.
Cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, society at large and trade and industry has been consistently strengthened and intensified over recent years, as have international contacts and collaborative projects with partners abroad.
Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute (KPI) was chartered in 1991 to govern the safety of pharmacopuncture and to modernize the clinical usage of herbal acupuncture.
Furthermore, our research center with clean room was established for safe production of the herbal extracts and to develop wide variety of herbal medicine. KPI is on the leading edge of Korean medicine and we are proud of our efforts in modernization of Korean medicine.
